Pain? Acute or Chronic. Try Prolozone TherapyTM
Many patients choose Prolozone for low back pain, degenerated or herniated discs, sciatica, neck pain, unresolved whiplash, rotator cuff tears and osteo-arthritis of the hip or knee.
What is Prolozone TherapyTM?
Dr. Frank Shallenberger pioneered Prolozone Therapy. This therapy combines ozone and targeted nutrient injections with the goal of stimulating tissues and improving circulation. Prolozone TherapyTM finds it's root derived from the Latin word “proli” which means to proliferate, regenerate, and rebuild. This therapy is given as injections.
Injured Ligaments Cause Pain
Ligaments act like strong “rubber bands” that hold your bones, joints, and intervertebral discs together. They provide stability, guide movement, and help protect your spine and joints from excessive strain.
Injury, repetitive stress, or surgery can weaken or damage ligaments. Unlike muscles, ligaments have limited blood supply, which can make recovery slower. When ligaments lose strength or tightness, they may no longer stabilize the joint effectively.
As a result, the surrounding structures — including bones, discs, and joints — must absorb more stress. Over time, this added strain can contribute to joint instability, ongoing discomfort, reduced mobility, and degenerative changes.
Ligaments also contain many nerve endings. When they become irritated or overstretched, they may contribute to localized pain and sensitivity.
How Does It Work?
One of our trained clinicians performs Prozolone Therapy™ using an ozone-assisted injection technique. The provider places small, targeted injections in and around the soft tissue attachment sites.
We offer this therapy as an adjunctive, wellness-oriented option intended to support comfort and mobility. Proposed mechanisms in the literature include short-lived oxidative signaling and local tissue responses that may support the body’s normal repair processes. Evidence and individual responses vary, and no outcomes are guaranteed.
Why Do We Use Ozone?
Ozone (O3) is a reactive form of oxygen used here in carefully controlled, small amounts as part of an in-office procedure. Because ozone interacts with tissues at a cellular level, researchers have studied its potential signaling effects and influence on local tissue responses. At our clinic, we incorporate ozone-assisted injections into a broader wellness strategy that prioritizes comfort, stability, and functional movement. Before proceeding, we review your medical history, candidacy, potential risks, and available alternatives.
What Can I Expect?
Your treatment plan depends on your goals, health history, and how your body responds.
Many patients choose a short series of treatments. Others schedule additional sessions based on comfort and mobility changes. Providers typically space sessions 1–2 weeks apart and adjust recommendations as they monitor your response.
You may notice temporary soreness or sensitivity at the injection site. Although serious complications remain uncommon, risks exist with any injection procedure. Contact our office promptly if you experience new or worsening symptoms.
