Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is a treatment that delivers 100% oxygen in a pressurized chamber. This allows your lungs to take in much more oxygen than they can at normal air pressure, helping to saturate your blood and reach tissues that need extra healing support.
How Does HBOT Work?
During treatment, you simply relax inside a specially designed chamber while breathing in pure oxygen. The pressurized environment allows oxygen to reach deeper into tissues, where it can support the body in promoting tissue repair and regeneration, assisting immune function, and supporting neurological recovery and clarity.
This oxygen-rich environment can assist with:
- Stimulating the growth of new blood vessels
- Decreasing inflammation and swelling
- Boosting white blood cell activity to fight infection
- Encouraging collagen production for wound healing
- Improving mitochondrial function and energy levels
Who Can Benefit From HBOT?
HBOT is FDA-approved for several medical conditions and is increasingly used in integrative practices for a range of wellness goals.
HBOT is FDA-cleared for specific conditions (e.g., CO poisoning, gas embolism, selected non-healing wounds). Uses beyond FDA-cleared indications are investigational; evidence varies and outcomes are not assured.
What to Expect
Each session lasts 60 minutes with a 90-minute appointment length accounting for 15 minutes on each end for pressurization and depressurization. Most people relax, read, nap, or listen to music during treatment. HBOT is non-invasive, painless, and typically has minimal side effects. A series of sessions is often recommended to achieve optimal results.
To prepare for your hyperbaric oxygen therapy session, wear loose, comfortable cotton clothing and avoid synthetic fabrics, perfumes, or lotions. Take all your prescribed medications as directed. It’s best to eat a light meal 1–2 hours before your appointment and avoid carbonated drinks or caffeine. Be sure to stay hydrated, but try not to drink too much water immediately before your session. Refrain from smoking or consuming alcohol, and don’t forget to bring a blanket—hyperbaric chambers can get chilly!
Why We Offer HBOT
At our clinic, we believe healing starts with supporting your body’s natural systems. HBOT helps to give your cells what they need most — oxygen — in a form that’s faster and more effective than what you can get from breathing room air. Whether you’re recovering from illness or just want to boost your vitality, HBOT may be a game-changer.
